Contribution à l’étude des effets du management de la qualité sur le bien-être et la performance dans un laboratoire de recherche

Abstract : For the past twenty years, public research and higher education organizations have continued to integrate into their strategic objectives a quality approach whose principles and tools have long been used in private companies. Research laboratories have been quick to adopt this approach in different ways and have been satisfied for the most part with the resources they have. The aim objective of the quality approach is to enhance the value of research activities, to demonstrate the traceability of data obtained and the reliability of published results. But have research laboratories been sufficiently prepared and are they using the quality approach to manage their organization in order to achieve the objectives and satisfy the quality requirements of the assessment bodies ? In this context, the function of quality manager has been created in research laboratories and in higher education. However, this function is faced with the following question : "How to involve people at all levels in the quality process ? This research is based on the author's professional experience and on the study of the link between the quality approach, human well-being at work and leadership. The data obtained from a survey of 235 participants who are members of research laboratories were analyzed using two complementary methods of analysis, quantitative and qualitative. The results confirm that the quality approach improves the performance of a research laboratory and well-being at work. The enabling leadership has a mediating role between the quality approach and performance as well as between the quality approach and well-being at work. Some perspectives are proposed to facilitate the involvement of people in the deployment and management of the quality approach.
